Why is an oil change so important?
Your car’s engine relies on oil to lubricate all of the moving parts, reduce friction and heat that can cause engine wear.
Over time your car’s oil will pick up dirt and debris which can damage your engine.
At Auto Repair Pros, our ASE Certified Mechanics will remove the dirty oil and oil filter and replace it with high quality oil to keep your engine running smoothly
When should I get an oil change?
For newer vehicles, most cars and trucks will require an oil change every 5,000 – 7,500 miles. Check your manual for your vehicle’s recommended oil change schedule. For older vehicles that rely on non-synthetic motor oil, we recommend changing your oil more frequently (3,000 – 5,000 miles)
How do I know if I need an oil change?
We recommend changing your vehicle’s oil at regular mileage intervals.
However, there are some telltale signs that you may need to change your vehicle’s oil sooner.
- The “check engine” or “change oil” light comes on.
- The oil appears dark and opaque when checked. New oil should be an amber color and clear.
- Your engine is making an unusual sound. This could be due to a buildup of sediment causing friction on moving parts.
- Your vehicle isn’t performing as well and your gas mileage is suffering.
- You notice any leaks. If you catch it early, a leak can be easily fixed. But if you wait too long, it could cause catastrophic engine damage.
- Your vehicle is overheating. Clean oil helps reduce friction and keeps the engine from overheating.
How long does it take to change my vehicle's oil?
If you schedule an appointment, our ASE Certified Mechanics will change your oil and replace your filter using OE/OEM parts in about 45-60 minutes. During that time we’ll also conduct a complimentary preventive maintenance analysis, which includes checking your vehicle’s brakes, tires, steering components, scanning any codes, and checking for any leaks, all to prolong the life of your vehicle.
When your oil change is complete we’ll place a convenient sticker on your windshield with an easy to use QR code. When it’s time for your next oil change, just scan the QR code using your phone and book your next appointment. It’s as easy as that.
If you want to keep your vehicle’s engine running smoothly and maximize your fuel economy, schedule your oil change at one of our convenient Auto Repair Pros locations.
What is an ASE Certified Mechanic?
We have mentioned several times that Auto Repair Pros employs ASE Certified Mechanics. So, what does that mean? ASE is short for the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence, an independent non-profit organization formed in 1972 with the mission of improving the quality of vehicle repair and service.
In order to become ASE certified, our associates must pass an ASE certification test and have at least two years of on-the-job training, or one year of on-the-job training and a two-year degree in automotive repair to qualify for certification.
Because automotive technology is advancing at a rapid pace, our ASE Certified Mechanics must keep up their education and retest every five years.
