Why Oil Changes Matter

Your car’s engine relies on oil to lubricate all of the moving parts, reduce friction, and reduce heat that can cause engine wear. Over time, the oil will pick up dirt and debris which can damage your engine. At Auto Repair Pros, our ASE-certified mechanics will remove the dirty oil and oil filter and replace it with high quality oil to keep your engine running smoothly.

When to Get an Oil Change

Most newer vehicles require an oil change every 5,000-7,500 miles. Check your manual for your vehicle’s recommended oil change schedule. For older vehicles that rely on non-synthetic motor oil, we recommend changing your oil more frequently — around every 3,000-5,000 miles.

Signs You Need an Oil Change

Changing your oil regularly is the best option, but if you’ve missed a change or two, you might experience some of these symptoms. Or if you see any of these signs in between oil changes, you may need to come in sooner.

  • The “check engine” or “change oil” light comes on.

  • The oil appears dark and opaque when checked. New oil should be an amber color and clear.

  • Your engine is making an unusual sound. This could be due to a buildup of sediment causing friction on moving parts.

  • Your vehicle isn’t performing as well and your gas mileage is suffering.

  • You notice any leaks. If you catch it early, a leak can be easily fixed. But if you wait too long, it could cause catastrophic engine damage.

  • Your vehicle is overheating. Clean oil helps reduce friction and keeps the engine from overheating.

How long does it take to change my vehicle's oil?

If you schedule an appointment at Auto Repair Pros, our mechanics will change your oil and replace your filter using OE/OEM parts in about 45-60 minutes. During that time, we’ll also conduct a complimentary preventive maintenance analysis, which includes checking your vehicle’s brakes, tires, steering components, scanning for any codes, and checking for any leaks, all to prolong the life of your vehicle.

When your oil change is complete, we’ll place a convenient sticker on your windshield with a QR code. When it’s time for your next oil change, just scan the QR code using your phone and book your next appointment!
